The Search For The Best Burger at Disney Springs

There once was a burger so delicious that I proclaimed it the best burger I ever had… certainly the best burger at Walt Disney World.

Alas, this fairytale love affair came to an abrupt end with the closing of Fulton’s Crab House.

You say…the best burger was at a fish place?

Yes, I say. It was!

Now, anyone who knows me, knows I hate seafood. Don’t do it. Can’t stand it. However, the Levy company that owns Fulton’s (now Paddlefish), Portabello, and Wolfgang Puck’s Grand Café have an amazing loyalty program that gives you a $25 credit every year during your birthday month. (sign up here)

Because of this amazing reward that has allowed me to taste and sample at all of their owned properties, I found the best burger ever.

This burger was consistently amazing year after year. The meat was tender and juicy, seasoned beautifully, and the double cheese would just drip off
the burger onto your plate.

It was heaven.

I’m still in mourning over this burger, but under the guise of getting over my broken heart, I have determined to find a new best burger at Disney Springs and I’m taking all of you along with me!

*cue thunderous applause*

So up first, it seemed only right to start where it ended… Fulton’s… which is now Paddlefish.

I would be remiss to gloss over the redesign of Fulton’s at this point. So on a quick aside, the new styling is gorgeous, very modern and upscale, and the menu prices have all increased, as was expected. I truly like the new design, but the old front room with the hand painted ceiling will be missed!

*Insider Tip*
If you plan to eat at Paddlefish, the one thing I would recommend if you’re sensitive to noise or overwhelm easily from your surroundings is don’t sit in that front room. Request a table in one of the other dining rooms. That front room now has acoustics that are a bit echo-ey, and the room can be quite loud. It’s a small space, but it felt like a much bigger crowd. There were several times over the course of our meal where we couldn’t hear one another chatting and had to speak up. There were also times that something happened at the bar area that caused loud crashes and caused everyone to jump.

I am sad to say that, though I enjoyed my overall visit to Paddlefish, this particular dining room was a definite miss in my book. I have gone back several times since, however, and have enjoyed my dining experience much more, simply by avoiding that front room.

Now on to the burger!

Which is literally called just that on the menu:

The Burger
9 ounce proprietary blend, house-made pickles, red onion, pimento cheese, brioche

When my friend asked about getting a different cheese, like say, cheddar, he was told they didn’t have any. So it is my experience that this burger is served exactly the way it’s written on the menu. He left the cheese off.

It is $19 at lunch or dinner and served on a wood plank with fries.

I am ordinarily a big believer in lettuce, tomato, and onion on my burger, so I was concerned from the get-go on this one. But the pickles were extremely flavorful and the pimento cheese was a truly wonderful addition! It gave me that drippy cheese experience that I love.

I didn’t find the meat as tender or as flavorful as I remembered the other burger being. In fact, I found this burger to be a bit charred when it arrived at my table, despite having asked for medium rare. And it is a small burger as well. I had seen it on another table before it arrived at mine and I honestly thought it was a large kid’s burger.

All that being said, it was a good burger, and the pimento cheese was a delightful and flavorful treat. There’s just nothing special about this burger. Granted you probably aren’t going to Paddlefish to get a burger anyway, and some of the other food I saw go past the table looked spectacular. But as for best burger of Disney Springs, I give this a 6… and only for the pimento.
