Welcome to #SundaysOnParade!
If you’ve been with us since the beginning, welcome back and if this is your first Parade Trip with us then I hope you have a blast and join us again next week. 😀 If you have memories from seeing any of these parades in person, please feel free to share the memories with us. And as always, if you know someone who would enjoy these posts because they love parades, Disney, time travel or history please share with them.
We’ve traveled through 26 years of Disney parade history so far on our trip through the past to see some of our favorite ways Disney entertains it, guests. Today we’re looking at another one of those milestones, the 20th Anniversary Surprise Celebration parade for the anniversary of the Magic Kingdom in 1991. The parade ran from 1991 to 1994, with a name change after the 20th anniversary year to the Surprise Celebration Parade.
The centerpieces of the parade were towering balloons (some measuring as tall as 35-40 feet) depicting Disney characters celebrating festivals from around the world, including balloons for Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, Pluto, and Roger Rabbit. The parade also featured festive costumes and floats. Other Disney characters walked the parade route carrying red Mickey balloons.
